As a frequent user of Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Copilot, I'm excited to share some upcoming changes to both user interfaces (UI) that aim to enhance your experience and align it better with the broader Microsoft Copilot ecosystem. Starting late March and continuing through mid-April 2024, we'll notice several updates taking place.

One notable addition will be the introduction of a green shield icon, positioned next to our user profile image in the UI header. This shield serves as a visual cue, reminding us of Microsoft's robust enterprise compliance standards, ensuring discretion when sharing personal and organizational data. Simply hovering over or tapping on the shield will provide more details, guiding us through its significance.

Another significant change involves a persistent legal and data protection disclaimer placed conveniently underneath the chat prompt box. This disclaimer, accompanied by links to Terms, Privacy, and FAQs, underscores Microsoft's commitment to compliance and transparency throughout our chat interactions.

To streamline the UI, certain duplicative instances of disclaimers and links will be removed, making navigation more intuitive. Additionally, a new AI accuracy disclaimer will be appended to the bottom of each chat, reminding us that while Copilot's suggestions are incredibly helpful, they may not always be perfect.

One noticeable alteration will be the removal of company branding or logos from the UI, providing a cleaner and more uniform interface across all instances of Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Copilot.

These updates will apply to various entry points of Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Copilot, including:

  • Copilot.microsoft.com
  • Copilot in Bing (bing.com/chat)
  • Copilot in Edge (sidebar)
  • Copilot in Windows
  • Mobile applications:
    • Microsoft Copilot
    • Microsoft Edge

However, it's important to note that UI for Copilot within specific Microsoft 365 apps will remain unchanged.

It's essential to understand that these updates are solely related to UI enhancements and will not affect the terms, privacy policies, or data protections associated with Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Copilot. As part of preparation, I encourage you to inform your users about these upcoming changes, ensuring a smooth transition.
